Hello Everyone,
First of all I want to give a huge thanks to Dara Beaudet and Lisa Voydanoff for helping me with the Pink at the Rink Event!! It was great to see both associations working together for such a great cause. This was our first year hosting the event at Crystal Fieldhouse. Michelle and her staff were very accommodating throughout the whole event and worked very hard that day! I thought Saturday was a huge success!!!
We had Channel 12 news, Channel 5 news and the County Press come out and cover the event (thanks to Joe Frost). Hopefully that will encourage kids to come out and try hockey at our facility.
We were able to raise $2128.64 on the day of the event! Along with the $1725.00 from the Cokley family and Crystal Fieldhouse, the donation this year will total $3,853.64!!
I also want to thank all the hockey families who participated that day. The baskets looked awesome!!! The bake sale was filled with goodies from end to end. I can't wait until next year, hopefully it will be bigger and better!
Sincerely,
Angie Schmitt

Comment from Michelle Wisenbaugh, Crystal Fieldhouse Manager
We were honored to host Pink at the rink at Crystal Fieldhouse in Burton this 2019 year. In the past LCHA hosted Pink at the Rink at Polar Palace. I've always thought what a great event. Working with LCHA for this event has been a wonderful experience. Angie Schmitt from LCHA reached out to GFHA and both youth hockey organizations worked together to make this event happen. Special thanks to LCHA Angie Schmitt and GFHA Lisa Voydanoff.
After hearing Angie talk about Pink at the Rink and the two organizations they donate to, I though, we should do more than just host this event. Cancer has affected so many people and learning from Angie about the two organizations they donate to, Hurley Breast Cancer Navigation Fund and Extra Mile Patient Assistance Fund, 100% proceeds go to helping people from our community. Both Mark Leach and myself agreed the company would make a contribution. Thanks to the owners of Crystal Fieldhouse giving back to the community is not something new.

YOUR DONATION WORKING FOR OTHERS...
Karmanos Cancer Institute Extra Mile Patient Assistance Fund. 100% of proceeds go back to the patient! The funds go to cover basic needs, such as: Transportation, Gas, Food, Groceries, Nutrition supplements, Prescription Co-Pays
When patients find out that they have breast cancer and will have to undergo radiation or chemotherapy treatments rarely can that patient continue to work and the bills pile up. 100% of all donations made to the Extra Mile Program and to Hurley Medical Center's Breast Health Navigation are used for patients in financial distress. These needs include paying "real bills" from water, utility, house note, car note, provide gas cards to get to and from therapy. Gift cards to pay for groceries or co-pays and medications.
